Chalk Boat Relay


Goal, Objective or Purpose of Activity:

Terminology - teach parts of the boat

Appropriate Age Level: Any

Minimum/Maximum Number of Participants: 4+

Set-up Time Required: 0-15 minutes

Activity Time Required: 15-30 minutes

Space Requirements: 20’ X 20’ parking lot or sidewalk

Materials/Resources: Sidewalk chalk

Procedure for Teaching:

  1. Divide the group into two or more teams
  2. Have teams line up around parking lot/sidewalk
  3. Give first person in each line a piece of sidewalk chalk
  4. Instructor call out boat part or provides each team list of boat parts
  5. Teams race to draw and label all the parts of the boat
